Customers: compare verified teachers, message safely, pay securely with funds held until your event is complete. Teachers: your own profile, bookings and payouts. How Popdance works

Notes

  1. Heading. Single registration for both roles. Query parameter ?role=teacher or ?role=customer preselects the choice (teacher landing and footer links use it). noindex. Analytics: signup_viewed with role and source.
  2. Role choice. Two radio cards, required, default "I want to book" unless the URL says otherwise. Choosing teacher reveals the extra fields (item 5) and changes the button destination. Role is stored on the user and used for routing and emails. A user can add the other role later from account settings.
  3. Social sign up. Google, Apple, Facebook. The role choice is kept through the OAuth redirect. Existing email match prompts a log in instead of creating a duplicate.
  4. Email form. First and last name required (1 to 50 characters), email format and uniqueness checked on blur, password minimum 10 characters, checked against a common-password list, strength chips update live. Mobile optional for customers and required later for teachers at payout setup. Honeypot field and CAPTCHA on suspicious traffic.
  5. Teacher extras. Business name and town only, to keep sign up short. Everything else (services, qualifications, payouts, verification) happens in 42-teacher-signup-wizard.html and 43-verification-upload.html. Teacher accounts are not public until approved by admin.
  6. Consent and submit. Terms and Privacy tick box required (store version and timestamp). Marketing opt-in is separate, unticked by default (UK PECR). Button label "Create account", spinner while submitting. Customers land on their bookings page or the return URL, for example the booking request in 20-booking-request.html. Analytics: signup_completed with method and role.
  7. Email verification. Verification link valid 24 hours. Unverified users can browse, save and message but cannot pay or publish. A banner on dashboards reminds them. Resend limited to once per minute.
  8. Benefits panel. Short reassurance and link to 08-how-it-works.html. Hidden once the user starts typing on small screens to keep the form in view.

Mobile

Single column with the role cards stacked. Name fields stack. Sticky "Create account" button at the bottom. Autofill and password manager support, correct keyboard for email and phone.
