Be kind. No poaching customers, no sharing customer details, no promotion of off-platform payments. Read the rules
Data fields (for developers)
- Post id, author, topic, region, body, images, pinned flag
- Reaction count and comment count
- Event id, start, capacity, RSVP list, waiting list
- Directory opt-in flag, display name, town, main style, plan
- Report count and moderation status
- External group invite urls (admin settings)
Notes
- Page and tabs. Members-only space, visible to all verified teachers on every plan. Tabs filter the same post store by type (tip, news, event, member post). Team posts and pinned items appear first. Analytics:
community_viewed.
- External groups. Buttons link to the Facebook group and WhatsApp community (invite links held in admin settings, shown only to approved teachers). Copy: "Chat with other teachers. Popdance staff are in there too." Open in a new tab.
- Search, topic and region filters. Topics: Parties, Schools, Pricing, Insurance and legal, Marketing, Music, Wellbeing, Equipment. Region filter uses UK regions. Sort: latest, most discussed, most helpful.
- Post and comment. Rich text posts with up to 4 images; comments plain text, 1,000 characters. Reactions are likes only. Report on each item sends it to moderation. Rules enforced by filters: no phone numbers or emails in public posts, no links to competing marketplaces. First three posts per new member are pre-moderated.
- Events. Created by Popdance staff in admin content. RSVP shows count, capacity limit message when full ("This event is full. Join the waiting list"), add to calendar (.ics). Reminder notification 24 hours before.
- Member directory. Opt-in only (setting in teacher settings). Shows name, town (not full address), main style, plan badge. Message button opens a thread in Messages with a safety banner. Teachers can block others.
Mobile
Single column feed, the events and directory cards drop below the feed behind collapsible headers, Write a post becomes a floating button, tabs scroll horizontally.
States
Empty feed (new region filter): "No posts here yet. Be the first to share a tip." Loading: skeleton posts. Error: "We could not load the community" with Retry. Teacher not yet approved: page replaced by "Community opens once your profile is approved" with a link to Verification. Muted or suspended members see read-only mode with a reason and an appeal link.
